Hyde embarrass County in Boxing Day catastrophe

In reality most expect this defeat to come.

Some said it was worse than the 6-0 at Macclesfield, that was unexpected. This was different - most turned up at the ground fully expecting Hyde to run away winners.

Surely something would happen though? We would turn up and have our players fired up? We couldn't get beat off Hyde in our first ever league game with them - could we?

With four ex County players in their ranks (Poole, Griffin, Crowther and Ashworth) Hyde were never going to be pushovers.

The search party was finally called off for Euan Holden as he re-appeared in the first team for just the first time this season. His last County game was in April - he has not been injured.

An early goalmouth scramble at the Hyde end gave County fans early hope that perhaps we had turned up - Hobson, Collins and Jennings all came close but were blocked by the brave bodies of the Hyde defence.

But Hyde took the lead inside the first ten minutes when ex County man Adam Griffin whipped a corner in towards the near post and it found its way straight into the goal. Ian Ormson and Euan Holden could take joint blame as Holden was beat on the near post and Ormson could get nowhere near it either. 1-0 to Hyde. To be fair to Adam Griffin he did not celebrate in front of the Cheadle End as his teammates congratulated him.

It was a Griffin corner again that lead to the second goal, again Holden was beat at the near post and Joe Connor was fast asleep (as per usual) at the back post to allow Sedgwick to guide the ball into the net unmarked to make it 2-0 to Hyde United.

Hyde had further chances to make it 3-0 and the County fans were not happy at all. Ironic cheers rang around Edgeley Park when County finally got a corner cleared at the near post.

Jennings missed two chances early in the second half, but after that Jim Gannon could only tinker with his formation and fail to make a difference as Hyde sat, comfortably, on their 2-0 lead.

I know one thing for certain - I am not looking forward to New Years Day.

Not been on this site for ages but felt after this Hyde game that I would like to have a say...Gannon should walk away RIGHT NOW!!!!...I watched him come out after half time supping coffee/tea... WHAT !!!!!!!!!!! ...could you imagine Alex or Harry coming our doing that ???!!!! please go Gannon you appear to be clueless to say the least....jeeeeeeeezzzz it was clwar to everyone that Gannons system wasn't working but he did not appear to see it himself...Gannon IS NOT good enough!!!! for goodness sake DO ONE GANNON you cleuless bafoon
edgeley
What is going on behind the scenes? Is there something affecting Jim's decision making? Even though things look bleak right now the Conference table is concertinered (is that a word?) and there are only 8 points between us and Mansfield in 8th place. Trying to be optimistic here - we will spank Telford on Saturday and then get revenge at Hyde on New Years day. And Edgeley - please keep posting. I know there are more folk with your take each week that passes.

Will do... and thanks for that cropped......The image of Gannon coming out at half time with that mug of tea really really p***ed me off ...here we were 2-0 down to yet another nothing part time team and Gannon is sipping tea in front of the dugout !! I have seen that on a Sunday morning...Sir Alex of Harry Redknapp or any other manger would not do that..it just didn't look right to me. Gannon is truely clueless in my opiniuon and any other manger except him would be getting it big time from the EP fans.....whats gone is gone and Gannon appears innept to me !!! The trouble is I don't know who would take this job .... it is so so very sad to watch this once proud football club being turned over so very easily by nothing football teams.
edgeley
Wow those are some statements. But I do agree that change is needed. For me as Gannon is also a director he should stand down from his duties and concentrate on being a director. Let someone else come and and take the running of the team forward. Gannon seems clueless and lost in ideas of how to turn it round. Plus as I have said before his people skills are non existent.

Edgeley - whats all this " nothing part time team" stuff mate ??? There are alot of nothing part time teams in this League and they're all making mugs out of that other NOTHING team - Stockport County FC !. Its time for a reality check - County are nothing more than a poor bottom half of the Conference side - the halcyon "big club" days are long gone - get used to it and stop patronising those nothing part time clubs who at least show a bit of honest endeavour and passion when they come to EP. Very well done Hyde, Forest Green, Woking, Southport et al !
rylester
Oh I so agree rylester !!!...I have no illusion WHATSOEVER as to SCFC being a nothing team albeit we are not part timers!!!! we are truely a nothing team and as for the other nothing teams you mentioned then I rest my case!!!!....I was not making my point because I think we are a good side ryleter...I was making my point because we are hugely inept in all departments because a certain manager we have appears clueless to me...I cannot say well done to the teams who have easily turned us over because it isn'r difficult to turn us over ...Stockport County are at the very least 10/15 years away from being any kind of force again and that's an optomistic veiw!!!!!!!!
edgeley
Many of these part time "nothing teams" can offer better wages than we can at present. "full time" "part time" is a misnomer. We are trying to put a team together on a very short shoe string (you get what you pay for). Do not believe the buget stated by Snape actually went on team building. Much of it went on cutting the slack. As for clueless, well some people have short memories. As for cups of tea as a trade unionist I defend the right of any working man to partake of his chosen refreshment during his working shift. All managers at all levels have have some sort of refreshment with them in the dugout. What an absolutely ridiculous issue to get upset about. Instead we should be trying to find ways of encouraging more bums on seats then we might have the funds to match the "nothing teams" actual playing budgets.

Mybe our strikers should take a mug of tea on the pitch with them !!!!! worhers rights and all that crap !!! it would appear my pointe clearly passed you by NE !!! but he ho....my memory is fine as we have been clueless for year and years I am a season ticket holder and don't enjoy going to the games so attracting more bums on seats is going to be a tough ask
edgeley
I'm a season ticket holder too. Perhaps we could meet up sometime for a mug of tea. Maybe thats the way to get bums on seats, have a tea party.
