County Lose. Again.
Saturday 5th December '09
County sunk to a seventh straight league defeat at Adams Park today, despite taking the lead through Carl Baker's 12th goal of the season.
In a week where County boss Gary Ablett admitted that Carl Baker, Owain fon Williams, and Oli Johnson will most likely have to be sold in January, County couldn't stop the rot at a Wycombe side two places above The Hatters in the table. The defeat now sees us slip to the bottom of the table, behind Tranmere who won 1-0 today.
With the prospect of Leeds, Charlton and MK Dons all coming up this month, it makes today's loss even more gutting as we'll probably get a pasting in every one of the above.
We did take the lead today though, Carl Baker's stunning 20 yard strike giving County the advantage and, you would have thought, the desire to hold on for the remaining quarter of the match.
But that didn't happen, with Johnny Mullins conceding a needless corner which enabled Chris Westwood to nod home unmarked, and in the 83rd minute Scott Davies drove home the winner via a Michael Raynes deflection.
With our main, in fact ONLY source of goals leaving in January in the form of Carl Baker, and probably Owain fon Williams as well, we really are going down with a whimper. It's gutting.
Still, at least we've got Matt McNeil (!) McNeil took a place on the bench today after being resigned by Gary Ablett. Who next, Jamie Spencer? Harpal Singh?
You get my drift. We're as good as relegated, and we're dying. Last one out please turn off the lights.
