Jacobs not crackers?

Jacobs not crackers?

It would appear that one of County's best performers, Kyle Jacobs, is not going to re-sign for 2014-15.

Jacobs if you remember signed from FC United and was regarded as one of the few County players last season to look like they could play at a higher level than Conference North.

So a player many of us had inked into the SCFC squad for next season, has gone.

Jacobs - crackers?

I mean he could have been a regular in the only 'big' club in this division, playing homes at the only football league sized ground in this division and roared on by the loudest fans in the division.

Taking off the royal blue spectacles for a moment... what did Jacobs see?

Did he see a team that has lost, in Jevons, our number one goal scorer ?

Did he see that James Walshaw, 32 goals Alti hot-shot, who did not want to move up to the Conference Premier with Alti (due to travel time away from his young family), had stayed in the Conference North, not with County but with Harrogate Town!

Did he see sleeping shareholders showing little or no interest in the club and effectively blocking the flow of new investment?

Did he see a club destined for another season of mid-table mediocrity in the Conference North?

Maybe Jacobs will end up playing Conference National football next season.

Maybe he is not crackers after all...

Players will go where they get the best deal not because a club has a so called big name tag. I mean no disrespect but it says it all that we can be out bid by a club the size of Harrogate. On that basis what makes any of us think that we can challenge for promotion when we cant challenge for the signature of the better players. The worst thing we ever did was to go part time. There is a far greater pool of unemployed full time players to choose from than part time. If we ever go back full time, the cost will be horrendous. Much more than the saving made by going part time. We would have to build a whole squad including coaching and back room staff from scratch. I'm not convinced that I will see us back in the football league in my lifetime. As time goes on and the seasons pass by the lack of ambition shown by the club will see the gradual decline in the gates until they are down to the level of other clubs in this division.

Yes NE ! That is what I was getting at, you said it better than me (you should write for the site!). I know we are not quite into June yet but the signals I see from the club tells me we will not be able to get enough (any?) of the type of player we need to get out of this pit !

NEW INVESTMENT NEEDED! SLEEPING SHAREHOLDERS PLEASE WALK !

I certainly think P/T was a mistake as well, which has cost us in lost support sue to mediocre results far more than it saved in wages. The Rumour Mill is going sixteen to the dozen about shareholders, with numerous suggestions why nothing much has happened. I'm not blameless there, but what IS certain is that things are a mess, and while I don't think the lack of signings is necessarily cause for concern this early on, the buzz from the end of last season seems to have evaporated...
