Fantastic News?

Stockport County football club have relaunched the official supporters club.

The official supporters club (not to be confused with the Hatters Independent Supporters club, nor Help the Hatters, nor Your Town Your Team, nor One Supports Club etc etc) had all but died as far as I was concerned but now tis reborn!

Official blurb here!

I like this statement 'Their first major event will be to host a Fans` Forum at Edgeley Park on Wednesday August 7, with Ian Bogie and Alan Lord on the top table.'

And I like this statement '....also be launching the County Arrow Travel Club, providing coaches to every away game this season at affordable prices - with Supporters Club members receiving a further discount on the full cost.'

There is a Junior Supporters Club also as part of this initiative which again suggests a longer term view held by our current owners than I had previously thought.

There will I feel be a lot of good come out of this for those who want to just enjoy County without worrying about weighty matters like ground ownership and the direction the club may take in the future.

County after all should be about enjoyment - and for most of the last few years I have not equated County and enjoyment to be honest - but if a 'fluffy' world without concerns does it for you as a County fan then I say good luck.

Get involved, get your kids involved and have a ball.

After all, what's not to like about all this?

Well.

There are those who say that this is a clever stroke by the club to take the wind out of the sails of the movement to get all fans together as one entity and act in a more political manner.

A movement that was very much not in the interests of the current owners.

A movement that seems to have stalled.

I'd say those who rail against the current owners (and most of my current circle of County fans fall into that category) are now on the back foot.

All hail Ryan McKnight?

Not fussed. Results on the pitch only interest me.

I'm with you greyhound, only results count for anything. Be prepared to be amazed this season as the feel good factor is about to return to EP.
