West Midlands pronunciation shoime
Every County fan knew the odds were massively stacked against the Conference Premier survival of Stockport County. So a Kidderminster 4 County 0 result was not a shock in itself.
A very good Kidderminster side at home were always going to be a huge obstacle on the path to survival. It should have been 5 really as the Harriers missed a penalty. So, for me, no shame in that really.
Where the shame begins (and shame is right word to use, given the club is akin to a music hall joke right now) or ends is hard to define but to my mind Brian Kennedy should feel shame for gently draining the life out of this club.
Rather like giving blood but giving three pints instead of one, and doing it each and every month, the rent on our own ground will always lead to a weak and sickly club.
And so who will be interested in such an ailing 'business'? Not many. The pool of potential suitors is a small and stagnent one. Just look back to the succession of showers who have been at the helm of our club in recent years.
Add in the sniff of a 'quick' killing involving a land deal (whether pockets of land across the borough, the land surrounding Edgeley Park or Edgeley Park itself) and the type of owner we have attracted seem to be 'football club second' in their shameful outlook.
Shame on the current board too.
The removal of Jim Gannon, whether you agree with it or not (and we were on a poor run and that final game home to Mansfield was dismal - then again was Gannon being inched out by the board by being starved of finances which seem to have become available again?) and the the lunacy of the appointment of the new manager ( the squarest of pegs in the roundest of holes) sealed this seasons outcome.
The loaning out of our top goal-scorers with no recall clause seems a folly of monumental proportion. Shameful stewardship of our club.
Three-hundred and sixty degree, blue-sky, envelop pushing incompetence.
Finally in the list of shame must come a small proportion of our fanbase. Let's get it into perspective though, a handful of fans.
Maybe a couple of per-cent but the behaviour of these people have brought additional shame to our club. The fall-out of the incidents is open to speculation. Points deduction in division 6? A game or two played behind closed doors at Edgeley Park?
So, it is over to you Spencer Fearn. He is the current incumbent who 'owns' a majority of Stockport County Football Club. What are you going to do to put this club back together Mr. Fearn?
An apology from you and the board regarding your share of the shambles this season for starters?
Perhaps you could get Lord Snape to apologise very loudly as a final act of his Chairmanship?
Perhaps Ryan McKnight would like to walk away and erase his c.v of the stain of his Stockport County stint?
I have a feeling that Spencer Fearn has the ability and nous to put things right (many disagree with me). He has to take immediate, decisive, positive action though.
The vast majority of Stockport County fans have done their bit, turning out in numbers this season. They expected football and entertainment but not of the pantomime variety this season.
The fans are Stockport County and Stockport County are the fans and are owed big-time. No shame on us.
So sort it out Spencer or go.
