James Tunnicliffe returns to The Hatters

Stockport have re-signed James Tunnicliffe on a free transfer following his release from Wycombe Wanderers. Tunnecliffe a former youth trainee, has signed a two year deal with The Hatters, this deal reuniting James with Jim Gannon. Jim gave Tunnicliffe the chance to impress as he game the centre half his debut at the age of 16.

James left The Hatters for a undisclosed fee to Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer of 2009 as the club was placed in Administration. James found it hard to settle in Brighton and could not find a regular place in the first team, this lead the young defender wanting to play football. In his time at Brighton James was sent to Milton Keynes Dons and Bristol Rovers on loan before being sold to Wycombe in the summer of 2011.

James joined a newly promoted Wycombe side and started the season well playing in the opening six games. Tunnicliffe struggled to keep his place in the Wycombe team and therefore was loaned to Crewe Alexander in a one month loan deal.

In the summer of 2012 James was told he was not going to be offered a further deal at Wycombe therefore he became a free agent. With Jim Gannon back in charge of Stockport he thought it would be a excellent move for him especially to come back to the club he loves.

Having been released by Wycombe in the summer, James has spoken to several clubs before committing his future to Stockport County.

James Gannon, speaking about Tunnicliffe's return said 'I am delighted with this important addition as James provides the quality and experience required to improve the first team in such a vital position.

'I also feel that this signing shows a growing confidence amongst professionals in the game at the potential growth that can be achieved at Edgeley Park in the coming seasons.

'James joins a growing group of young professionals that have the ability and potential to play League football in the near future'

ood luck to James in his return to The Hatters.
